San Diego's Hard Rock

Why so much attention over the Hard Rock Cafe in San Diego? San Diego's Hard Rock Cafe is great dining experience for the whole family. The Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of casual dining restaurants first opened in London in the year 1971 by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton. The idea started simple enough—cover the walls with rock and roll memorabilia and create a distinctive atmosphere. The cafe was originally named after The Doors' 1970's album entitled "Morrison Hotel," which itself was named after a defunct bar closed in downtown Los Angeles. From there the Hard Rock Cafe grew phenomenally and now has 143 locations across 36 countries. The business has expanded into hotels and casinos, and is now going into theme park development. The Hard Rock Cafe earned most of its fame in the 1980's when the Hard Rock t-shirt was a major hit.

As for San Diego's Hard Rock Cafe location, it used to be the Golden Lion Tavern in the early 1900's. Now the Hard Rock Cafe as one of San Diego's most populated dining attractions, situated near the Gas Lamp Quarter. The Gas Lamp Quarter area is a renovated district in town that is full of restaurants, clubs and bars, and many other city attractions. Hard Rock Cafe San Diego is the perfect spot for a trip as it is constructed in a primary location. It is nearby the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park, as well as SeaWorld, Old Town and Balboa Park. You could easily stop by for breakfast, bring you own snacks and then come back for a larger-than-life dinner.

You can choose to visit the Hard Rock Cafe on the spur of the moment though
securing a ticket and a seat may prove difficult. On the other hand, buying a Hard Rock Cafe Meal card gets you an entree, a dessert and a drink. The great thing about the Hard Rock Cafe is that you never leave bored or hungry, and can help yourself to high quality American food as well as rock and roll history. Some entrees to look forward to include: steak dinners, hamburgers, veggie burgers, smokehouse specialties, chicken and fish.

The Hard Rock Cafe in San Diego also has plenty of rock and roll memorabilia, including a prototype jacket made for the 1960's NBC TV show "Elvis", a double-neck guitar used by Jimmy Page during Led Zeppelin tour, Joe Perry Model Guitar signed by all members of Aerosmith, a vintage fabric tank top worn by Gwen Stefani on the Tragic Kingdom World Tour, a black pigskin jacket made for Tony Iommi on Black Sabbath for the video "No Stranger To Love" and Sugar Ray boxing glove.

The Hard Rock Cafe is a rock and roll museum meets a good old-fashioned restaurant. There are also tributes and events to look forward to at various times throughout the year. Some past events have included tributes to John Lennon, Breakfast with Santa, live musical performances and listening parties, which is a great way to communicate with other San Diego residents and tourists.
