Steves Homestead in San Antonio, TX
This amazing house is one of the prime examples of early high society living in San Antonio. The home was built in 1876 for a lumber magnate who was one of the premier society members in San Antonio. The Victorian 2nd Empire design was later copied by several other affluent families in San Antonio. This home was the first in San Antonio to feature a telephone and electric lights. The original furnishings from the original house are still intact and a wonderful example of antique furniture from this era. Since 1954 the home has been in the hands of the San Antonio Conservation Society. You can choose to go on a self guided tour or be shown the home by a guide. There are several other buildings on the property, including a carriage house and servant's quarters.
