Once the location of the World's Fair, Hemisfair Park has underwent a complete makeover to offer guests and residents a unique experience. During the renovation, the unused facilities were replaced with cascading waterfalls and fountains, lush landscaping, and restored historic buildings to transform the 15-acre park into a showplace. A children's playground was added in 1990 for even more amusement for the little ones. While you're here, you're certain to want to visit the Tower of the Americas, located just behind Hemisfair Park.
Located near the convention center, the park is also within walking distance of Texas A&M University Engineering Extension Service and Univerisdad de Mexico. The Mexican Cultural Institute and the Institute of Texan Cultures are also located inside this grand park.
The Institute of Texan Cultutres museum is home to more than 50,000 square feet of exhibits telling the story of how this amazing state came to be what it is today.
