Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Tx

This fort was originally established in the mid 1800's, but moved to it's now permanent home in 1876. This military base is known as the birthplace of military aviation, as it was the site of the first flight of a military aircraft in 1910. This post is now also known as the home of Army medicine. Fort Sam Houston is currently still in use by the military, so you may not be able to get in for a look around, but it's an interesting piece of history none-the-less.
