The Aztec on the River, also known as The Aztec Theater, originally opened in 1926, and has since been restored and has reopened to the public.

This theater has been described as an architectural and technological masterpiece. The colors, statues, and other details are designed to immerse its visitors in a Meso-American feel. There are huge columns, statues, artifacts, and more, that are now all combined with modern technology. In the 1920's, this theater was home to silent films. Today, movies are played on an enormous iWerks screen, but are still accompanied by a fully restored Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ.

Throughout the day, there is a special effects show that takes place in the lobby. It features smoke, lighting effects, fire, surround sound, and animatronics. This theater is located directly across from the Riverwalk, putting it in a prime location for visiting on your next San Antonio vacation.
