Museo Alameda, The National Center for Latino Arts and Culture, is slated to open April 12th through 15th, ten years after the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center announced their affiliation with the Alameda National Center for Latino Arts and Culture.
The museum is a structure that simply cannot be missed while driving through San Antonio, it's bright pink! Conveniently located in San Antonio's historic Market Square, it is projected to be the most visited Latino museum in the United States. The 39,000 square foot building will feature numerous exhibits illustrating the merging of American and Latino cultures over the years, along with a Smithosonian Gallery featuring pieces from the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
The Alameda's opening weekend will include multiple festivities, including a "People's Walk" complete with luminarias from the Alamo. Concerts, tours, fiestas and activities are planned throughout the entire weekend. Spice up your next trip to San Antonio with a visit to the Alameda!
