To really take in the history of the Alamo, you need to get up close! The Alamo at the IMAX Theatre does just that. So close, in fact, that you'll feel like you need to reach down and pick up your gun to help defend the Mission.
You'll relive that thirteen days of history when 189 Texan and Tejano defenders fought for Texas' Independence at the Alamo. Viewed on a six-story screen complete with six-track stereo sound, your heart is sure to pound with along with the sounds of gunfire.
The cast of characters includes William Barret Travis, originally from South Carolina and leading member of the Independence movement. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna led the Mexican troops, losing most of Mexico's northern territories. Then you've got David Crockett from Tennessee. This backwoods legend volunteered for the Texas Army and went on to become one of the Alamo's most revered defenders. Juan Seguin led the "pro-independence" Tejaos and served as courier to the Alamo. He also became a hero at the Battle of San Jacinto. The most famous of the Alamo couriers was James Bonham, who entered the Alamo twice during the attack. Other characters include Toribio Losoya and James Bowie.
This fast-paced production is so realistic, you'll come out of the IMAX Theater feeling like you've lived through one of the most important historical events in our nation's history. The IMAX Theater is located near the Louis Tussaud's Plaza Wax Museum in downtown San Antonio.
