The Alamo City Grand Tour
San Antonio offers activities throughout the year, but the most frequently traveled months are from May through October. If you're visiting during the off-season, you will find plenty to do, be able to avoid the crowds and some great bargains on hotels as well.
For Everyone...
- Alamo Grand City Tour: If you're in San Antonio, you have to visit the Alamo and see Mission Trail. This eight and a half-hour tour will not only take you to the Alamo, but you'll go around San Antonio and see all of the famous sights. You'll also be treated to an IMAX Pass, a Buckhorn Saloon and Museum ticket, or a River Walk Cruise ticket to be used at your convenience during your stay in San Antonio.
- IMAX Theatre at Rivercenter: Visit the Imax theatre where you can see "Alamo -- The Price of Freedom" on an enormous screen with a sound system that makes you feel like you're actually there. The 45-minute film documents the battle of the 189 defenders who fought to save the Alamo and the siege that led up to its eventual fall.
- SeaWorld: Come and see all of the animals that call SeaWorld their home. You'll see seals, sea lions, sharks, eels, flamingos and more. SeaWorld doesn't only have animals; there are thrill-rides and shows too, not to mention a water park. Stop by the shows park and you'll be able to see the world-famous Shamu. And don't forget to stop by the park's 3-D Sea Star Theatre.
- Buckhorn Saloon and Museum: Located just two blocks from the Alamo, this museum was voted the best attraction in 2002 by the Downtown Alliance/San Antonio. The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum will take you through more than 120 years of history. This two-story museum offers unique exhibits such as a two-headed calf, fish from the Seven Seas, cowboy memorabilia and more. Stop by the gift show where you'll be able to buy authentic Buckhorn souvenirs.
For the Golfer...
- The Palmer Course at La Cantera: Open year round, the course was designed by Arnold Palmer and it's one of the hottest spots in the area. True Texas landscape compliments the course and challenges golfers with varied dips, turns, and creeks. The 18-hole course plays out over 225 acres. There are three Par 5 holes on the course - one on the front nine, and two on the back nine.
For the Romantic...
- Yellow Rose Carriage: Take a romantic tour in a horse-drawn carriage. Yellow Rose Carriage offers daily tours throughout the year that leave from Alamo plaza and show you a number of the historic sites in the immediate area. See the Riverwalk and many of the historic buildings. You can choose for the coachman to narrate the tour or you may opt to take a quiet, romantic Ride.
For the Adventurer...
- Journey's Hot Air Balloon Rides: This full-service hot air balloon company gives you a view of the city that no one else can provide. Journey's flights last an average of one hour and come with a complimentary champagne brunch. Flights are subject to weather conditions since safety is one of Journey's utmost concerns.
