You never know who you'll meet!
Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio
Over 300 years ago, the seeds were already planted in San Antonio soil. The personalities that have consistently contributed to the city's population--Native Americans, vaqueros (the Indians that became the first Texas cowboys), Buffalo soldiers, German businessmen, Anglo and Mexican settlers, Spanish missionaries, Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders--have cultivated San Antonio's unique culture. And now, the harvest is in: visitors can reap the benefits of modern day San Antonio, with a stroll along the attraction-lined River Walk, a tour of the historic Alamo, shopping at the Mercado, the spicy flavor of Tex-Mex, a Broadway show, a visit to SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and a whole lot more!
City Tour
- A perfect 'vacation starter', the Alamo/City Tour will bring you to the famed Alamo mission, provide a guided narration of some of San Antonio's most spectacular attractions, allow time for lunch and solo-sightseeing, and send you off with your choice of admission to the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, an IMAX movie, or a River Walk Cruise Ticket. If you find yourself fascinated by the Spanish frontier life of the Alamo, you'll be equally enthralled by Missions Concepcion, Espada, San Jose, and San Juan--all part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
The Paseo del Rio
- The River Walk borders both sides of the San Antonio River. For over two and a half miles, you'll pass city parks, sidewalk cafes, museums, galleries, specialty shops and boutiques, restaurants and night clubs. Here you'll find the Hard Rock Cafe, Dave & Busters, the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum. Riverboat cruises run day and evening, and local restaurants will provide food for dining cruises. For a special indulgence, treat yourself and that special someone to the romantic setting and dining delicacies at the Fig Tree Restaurant (Caviar, Lobster Bisque, Chateaubriand with Black Truffle Mashed Potatoes...)
SeaWorld
- Take a day to experience the excitement of SeaWorld San Antonio. This marine life adventure park features performances by Shamu, dolphins, sea lions--thrill rides, specialty shops, restaurants and animal habitats ensure enjoyment by visitors of every age! Six Flags Fiesta Texas will delight you with a multitude of rides, shows, games, shopping, and eateries. And if you have the good fortune to be visiting in late July or the month of August, you may find yourself at the Alamodome, watching the Dallas Cowboys practice or cheering on a scrimmage game.
Parks & Gardens
- You can spend a whole day at Brackenridge Park alone! Wander the animal displays at the San Antonio Zoo, meditate on the beauty of the Japanese Tea Garden, explore the HEB Science Treehouse, watch the kids play at Kiddie Park. Explore the three distinctive landscapes of Texas at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. A beautiful view of San Antonio--from more than 500 feet above ground--can be seen from the Tower of Americas.
Shopping
- Shoppers will enjoy the largest Mexican market outside of Mexico at the Mercado. Enjoy the entertainment of mariachis while you wander the indoor shopping center, the nearby restaurants and surrounding shops. Vendors sell fajitas and other Tex-Mex treats and specialty shops offer everything from "pearls to pinatas." The shopping doesn't stop there! If arts and crafts are an appeal, visit La Villita. Watch artisans at work as you browse shops for beautiful objects like hand-blown glass, jewelry, stained glass, pottery, or baskets. And you'll find the modern beauty of the three-story Rivercenter Mall stocked with even more shopping, dining and entertainment venues!
Dining
- While 'Chili Queens' once reigned over San Antonio's food scene, selling their chili con carne in open markets, you'll find that the city offers endless opportunities to discover fabulous dining venues. Try a Tostada Burger or Flaming Jalapeno Burger at Chris Madrids. Just about every weekend, there's a chili cook-off somewhere in San Antonio. There are over 90 places for barbecue, and the German beer, bratwursts, potato salads and kraut are as traditional to San Antonio as carne asada, fajitas and sopapillas. Locals will advise you to try menudo--a Hispanic stew--to cure a hangover.
Museums
- Don't forget the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, the Hertzburg Circus Museum, the King Williams Historic District, Fort Sam Houston... Whether taking in a performance by the San Antonio Symphony at the gorgeous Majestic Theater or a mock gunfight at the Buckhorn Saloon, you'll find plenty to do in San Antonio. The question is, do you have enough time?
