Rossland Historical Museum and Le Roi Gold Mine in Rossland, BC
The Rossland Historical Museum and Le Roi Gold Mine provides an enlightening journey through Rossland's days as a mining town and as a resort town. The Rossland Museum has many photographs and artifacts on display that showcase Rossland through the twentieth century. You'll even be able to examine an old caboose and see a gold panning exhibit. The museum has the Western Canada Ski Hall of Fame, which honors skiers like Olaus Jeldness and Rossland native Nancy Greene. The Rossland Museum also has tours that go through the famous Le Roi Gold Mine, which has been restored to look as it did in 1897. The mine features old equipment and mining and geology information provided by knowlegdeable guides. Tours for the mine only cost a few dollars more than the already inexpensive admission price, but the tours are only available from May to September. Keep in mind that the temperature in the mine will be lower than temperatures above ground, so be sure to bring a jacket for the mine tour.
