Red Mountain Resort
You'll enjoy skiing on mountains that are 360 degrees skiable.

Like many parts of Canada, temperatures in Rossland, British Columbia, are mild in the summer and very cold in the winter. The weather in Rossland makes it ideal for various types of outdoor recreation. Below, you will find a synopsis of each season.

Winter
With estimated snowfall reaching about 7.62 meters (300 inches) per year, winters are anything but light in Rossland. However, it is the massive amount of snow that makes Rossland a popular vacation destination. With this much snow, skiing has been a popular sport in Rossland for a number of years. Ski season generally begins in early December at Red Mountain Resort. If you're planning on vacationing in Rossland to enjoy some skiing, remember to bring proper ski attire, which includes three different layers of clothes (polypropylene layer, fleece layer, and waterproof/breathable shell), goggles or sunglasses, and sun block.

Spring
By the first day of spring (March 20), Red Mountain Resort still has about half a month left of ski season. The end of ski season is usually scheduled for early April, weather permitting. Winters are long in Rossland, but springtime reveals lush forests, crystal lakes, and beautiful wild flowers in the area. If you're planning to catch the end of ski season, you'll need the three basic layers of clothing (polypropylene, fleece, and a waterproof/breathable shell), goggles, and sun block. However, if you're coming to Rossland towards the middle and end of the season, you can pack a little lighter. Because the warmest months are not in spring, however, you'll still want to bring coats, jackets, and warm clothing.

Summer
Summers in Rossland are generally mild, but still warm enough to enjoy outdoor recreation like canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and mountain biking. Red Mountain Resort opens for its summer season in early July. The resort has many trails for biking and hiking, a golf course, and opportunities for fly fishing. Even though the summers are mild, you'll definitely want to bring a bathing suit, shorts, and other light clothing for a summer vacation in Rossland.

Autumn
Though Red Mountain Resort closes for its summer season in mid-October, you'll find much recreation in Rossland throughout most of this season. By the first day of autumn (September 22), Red Mountain Resort's summer season is in full swing, and as the foliage of the area changes colors, the Rossland becomes more picturesque than ever, making the biking and hiking trails truly beautiful. However, after the resort closes for its summer season, snow usually begins to fall. One can expect some snow in October and November. Therefore, if you're traveling to Rossland in the early part of autumn, you'll want to bring clothes light enough for mild temperatures but also warm enough for chilly nights; in the later part of the season, it would be best to pack snow gear.
