The Siegel Center is situated on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. The Center was opened in 1999 and is a popular sporting and music venue for the University and the city. The Center covers around 190,000 square feet, and the arena, known as the Alltel Pavilion, can seat 7,500 patrons. The Pavilion has been designed to host Division I level athletics, and it hosts the basketball games of the University's Rams. They have enjoyed great success since moving to the Pavilion, and the Rams have won a high percentage of their home games here. The arena is also used for other athletic activities such as inter-state high school basketball competitions. It has also hosted tennis tournaments that have attracted the likes of John McEnroe, Monica Seles and Martina Navratilova, many other types of events including career fairs, business conferences, and receptions.
It has become a well-known music venue and a variety of artists have performed here including James Taylor, Kenny rogers, Matchbox 20 and Bare Naked Ladies.
There are student facilities here including a fully-equipped fitness center with weight room and studio for exercise classes. There is also a gym that is used for volleyball, indoor soccer and dodgeball plus the offices of the University's department of athletics. For relaxation there is a pool table, and TV screen lounge if you prefer to watch your sport.
The Fast break Cafe serves light meals and snacks such as sandwiches, wraps and pastas. There are restrooms throughout the building and an ATM in the lobby.
