The Black History Museum and Cultural Center in Richmond, VA is located in the historically rich district of Jackson Ward. The building which houses the museum is a true treasure that was built in 1832 in the Greek Revival style. Originally built by a German immigrant, the area around it slowly became a heritage district with a strong African- American community culture.
The museum houses quite a few works, collections and other historical items of significance which depict the Black history over several hundred years. There are exhibits which depict the arts and its African influences.
