The Theatre des Confettis was founded in Quebec on 1977, based on a partnership between two actresses, Helene Blanchard and Judith Savard, along with a stage designer by the name of Real Sasseville.
Over 22 shows have been created, with eight translated and presented in the English language, three put out by Canadian companies, and five published as texts. Overall, nine have been honored by award programs as a finalist or as a prize winter.
The shows of the Theatre des Confettis have made a significant contribution to children and young people, focusing on the development of the dramatic arts field. By placing children and young people at the center of their work, the Theatre des Confettis has valued individual talent for their subversion, in addition to the reactions to the agency's shows and to their wide-awake approach and response. The creators find their artistic approach a common thread throughout their many productions, with its artistic approach neither linear nor tied to any one specific creative process. Instead, the company's personality finds itself expressed the ways to bring about new encounters, building on a child's shared feelings, fulfilling old dreams and responding magical flights of fancy.
One of the past shows to demonstrate this creativity were "Conte de la Lune" by Philippe Soldevila, for age eight children and older, an excellent family show which was awarded by the Academie quebecoise du theatre. It had opened at the Centre culturel de Caraquet and the Theatre des Gros Becs, while availability for touring began in the fall of 2008.
