Theatre Pupulus Mordicus in Quebec, PQ is a theatre in Quebec. Pupulus Mordicus got its start in 1995 when the town gave this company a mandate to create and perform puppet shows for adults. They stated that their "raison
d'ĂȘtre" was it give the puppet its place as generating dreams, etc. In an easier translation, they felt the pubic would get a lot of laughs, have fun and get an escape from their daily grind. Although when most people think of puppet shows, they think of children, Theatre Pupulus Mordicus is a theatre that does puppet shows with the adult in mind. The language they use is definitely for the adult audience and it's the adult crowd that they wish to entertain.
Sometimes their shows are about recollection of something specific. Other times they may be touched with a reverence of mischief and humor. In any case, the actors at Pupulus Mordicus will do everything they can to achieve their goal of entertaining the adult crowd and have them keep coming back. Their first production, "Faust" was very successful for them as was evident by the are welcome and applause they received. They also do a Christmas special called "The Mr. Christmas Scrooge", which was very successful about the life of Ebenezer Scrooge and his experiences on December 24, 1851. Other performances they've done are "An Autopsy of an automation" and "The enrobantes".
The group working at and for Theatre Pupulus Mordicus consists of Pierre Robitaille, Martin Genest and Jo-Anne Sanche in addition to the different performers. Their group is more than just a bunch of people that like puppets. They bare a group of writers, actors, designers and directors that cn put all their thoughts and dreams together.
