Maison Henry Stuart in Quebec, PQThe Maison Henry Stuart in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada is a preserved 19th century cottage with a stunning garden retreat. The house is classified by Quebec's Ministry of Culture and the Minister of Canadian Heritage as a designated national historic site. The house was built in 1849. Admission is $7 for adults. Children six to 12 pay a rate of $2.50. Children under five are free. The house is open every day from June 25 to Labor Day. From May to June 24 the house is only open on Sundays. It's also open only on Sundays from Labor Day to the end of October. The Maison Henry Stuart offer guided tours of the house and garden. Tours are completed by trained staff who are able to thoroughly explain the history of the home, its authentic décor and the Stuart family who once owned it. Tours run at 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm. Advance reservation is required for groups of six or more. Groups of six or more can also make a reservation any time outside of regular tour hours. Museum staff can be contacted by phoning 418-647-4347 or toll-free at 1-800-494-4347. The house was built in 1849 for Lady William Henry, the wife of William Henry, a wealthy Quebec timber merchant. Until the beginning of the 1900s, it was home to judges, journalists and doctors. The Stuart family acquired it during the beginning of the 20th century in 1918. The family lived there for 70 years. The Maison Henry Stuart also has a place for patrons to enjoy a delicious cup of tea and pastries.
