Good quirky fun is on the menu at Voodoo Doughnut, where owners Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson and Tres Shannon have turned the traditional doughnut shop on its ear. Known for their incredible size and often risqué names, the doughnuts on offer include the Dirty Snowball, a chocolate cake doughnut with pink marshmallow glaze and a surprise filling; the Memphis Mafia, a chocolate chip, banana, peanut butter, and glazed extravaganza; and of course the huge voodoo-doll-shaped Voodoo Doughnut.
Not content just selling doughnuts, Voodoo offers doughnut eating contests, Swahili lessons provided by their fryer Jay Boss Rubin, and Club Doughnut, a weekly event where local musical and theatrical acts can display their talents. Couples with a flair for the unusual can get in on the fun with a Voodoo wedding performed by an ordained minister under the "holy doughnut" and a velvet painting of Isaac Hayes. If that's not enough, visitors can stop by the shop for Voodoo T-shirts, underwear, and gifts.
