Founded in 1901 and ranked among the top five schools in the West, the University of Portland is a Catholic institution providing a traditional values-centered education focused on the three elements of teaching, faith, and service. The University offers undergraduate and graduate studies in arts, sciences, humanities, and professional programs, as well as many continuing education and other programs for working adults. A unique feature of the school is the Center for Entrepreneurship which helps students develop entrepreneurial skills through an interdisciplinary approach that includes internships with Portland businesses.
The Center also provides community resources such as business consulting and a mini-MBA program for high school students. Visitors are welcome to take advantage of the University's varied schedule of cultural events, from theatre productions and concerts to lectures and athletic events featuring their sixteen NCAA sports teams. The University is also known for hosting and impressive roster of guest speakers, from the Dalai Lama to the President of the United States.
