Art enthusiasts, wine connossieurs, and hipsters will all enjoy an evening stroll along the cobblestoned streets of Portland's Pearl District neighborhood, snugly nestled between the West Hills and the Willamette River. Home to trendy boutiques, art galleries, and wine bars, the district made a name for itself through its First Thursday event in which galleries and shops extend their hours to accommodate the thousands of travelers and residents who flock there to see and be seen. T
he cozy neighborhood feel of the district lends itself well to a relaxing night out at a swanky restaurant or gallery opening, or an afternoon of browsing for the latest fashions. The nearby Forest Park or Willamette River Esplanade offer visitors a pleasant place to walk, ride, or picnic. Adding to the quaintness of the Pearl District is the Portland Streetcar which transports passengers to the downtown theatre and cultural district in a mere five minutes, and whose original tracks can still be seen around the district.
