In 1974 two local craftspeople got together with the vision of creating an outlet where customers could find locally-produced items and local artisans could have an outlet for their work. Their vision paid off, and today the Portland Saturday Market is one of the largest outdoor markets in the U.S. Held in the historic Old Town District every weekend from March to December, the market features over four hundred vendors who attract almost a million visitors a year.
