Built in 1922 as a Masonic home, the McMenamins Grand Lodge is now a welcome retreat for visitors, offering European-style rooms in lovely surroundings with original Masonic chandeliers, historical photographs, stately columns, winding drives, and expanses of green lawn. Several restaurants and bars offer guests a plethora of options from candlelit dinners and hearty steaks at the Ironwork Grill to casual lunches at the Yardhouse Pub to snooker and a beer at the Doctor's Office Bar.
Guests can relax at the velvet-curtained Compass Room Theater, once an auditorium for the Masonic residents, which now presents a full roster of films, or try an aroma massage at the spa. Outdoor fun includes an unusual 10-hole disc golf course on the front lawn or a view of the stars from the garden-enclosed soaking pool, which is also open to day visitors.
