Visitors may need an entire day to experience the fascinating journey through aviation history offered by the expansive Evergreen Aviation Museum. The most famous exhibit is the Spruce Goose, the giant "flying boat" built by Howard Hughes during World War II that proved something heavier than air could fly just fine. Among the scores of other historic aircraft are a replica of Orville and Wilbur Wright's 1903 Wright Flyer, the 1940s Pitts S-2B "Little Stinker" flown by women's aerobatics champion Betty Skelton, and the Russian Photon Space Capsule.
Visitors can also hear veterans and pilots share firsthand stories, visit exhibits from WWI to the Space Age, or take a variety of fun themed tours, including History of Aviation, Science of Flight, Aviation Scavenger Hunt, and A Conversation in History. Several camp programs teach kids about space, rocketry, and outdoor survival. The Museum also offers wine tastings of their own Spruce Goose label in the Farm Store and Tasting Room.
