Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA is an art gallery devoted to exhibiting styles of contemporary studio glass with their emphasis on goblets, sculpture as well as jewelry in mixed media and glass. Situated in Pittsburgh's East End, this is the first art gallery in Pittsburgh to have exhibits of this kind and style. Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery is right in the middle of the Shadyside neighborhood, which is full of other specialty shops, galleries, antique stores and trendy coffee houses and restaurants. They are open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Although Pittsburgh is home to many artists, galleries and cultural venues, they did not have a glass gallery until 1997. In addition to their main pieces, they also have a selection of jewelry ranging from beads to some exquisite pieces by Beth Williams and Karen Gilbert. Here at Morgan you will find some very unusual pieces including blown glass and coldworked forms as well as many simply cut and assembled glass sculptures. Works from Warren Langley, Jamie Harris, Martin Rosol and Robert Mickelsen are just a few of the greats you will see here at Morgan.
One of their very interesting exhibits is their collection of teapots. They had exhibits of nonfunctioning teapots from over 29 artists in addition to a tea party fundraiser. You many want to check into some of their coming show such as their Japanese threads exhibit and their gallery or artists. They are constantly having special exhibits, shows and presentations for the public.
