The Mallorca Restaurant is situated in an historic townhouse in the South Side district of Pittsburgh. The award-winning restaurant was the first Spanish restaurant in the city. The decor, with its terracotta tiled floors and decorative tiling around the walls is reminiscent of traditional Spanish country houses. There are four dining rooms and a terrace patio for outdoor dining. The place has a great atmosphere and the restaurant is the perfect venue for a special occasion. The dress code is upscale casual to formal for dinner, with more casual dining at lunchtimes, and on Sundays.
The lunch and dinner menus feature a wide range of traditional Spanish cuisine. The emphasis is on fresh seafood dishes and specialties include octopus and calamari, and it is renowned for its saffron rice and seafood paella, originally from Valencia in Spain.
Appetizers include traditional chilled gazpacho soup, or the garlicky sopa de ajo. On the lunch menu are a selection of salads and sandwiches including the Jamon Serrano and Manchego cheese sandwich. Entrees include Ternera Siciliana — veal in a mozzarella sauce and chicken in marsala wine. Fish and seafood options include the paella Valenciana with seafood and chorizo, baby lobster tails with a champagne sauce and an assortment of seafood in brandy sauce. To accompany your meal sample one of the wines from the extensive wine list serving the best in domestic, Spanish and New World wines. The Captains' List has a selection of rare wines or if they're beyond your budget try the restaurant's homemade sangria.
