The Grand Course restaurant in Pittsburgh is located in the P&LE railroad station, that dates from the turn of the 19th century.& The large restaurant, with seating for over 500 customers, features the original stained glass windows and towering ceilings of the station. The interior features the marble, rich mahogany and brass of the Edwardian era.
The old baggage room is now an informal bar — The Gandy Dancer - which has wooden floors and a well-stocked bar. Food served here includes sandwiches and a fresh seafood selection with oysters and clams. The dining areas include the Audobon Room and the Ladies' Waiting Room which are on the riverside, and diners can eat here enjoying the views across the river and the skyline. The main dining room is situated in the original station concourse, and features a fine vaulted ceiling and elegant staircase. There are also outside dining areas in the summer.
The restaurant has a lunch and dinner menu with an emphasis on seafood. There is a selection of appetizers and soups including the smoked bluefish pate and Charley's chowder. Dinner entrees include the seafood platter, lobster ravioli, classic fish and chips, and macademia-encrusted shrimp. Homemade pasta and chicken dishes are also available. Desserts include the popular strawberries and pepper in papaya.
The Grand Concourse serves breakfasts and the popular Sunday brunch buffet, and also caters for business breakfast meetings. The separate dining areas are available for private hire for special occasions. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and reservations and recommended.
