Fort PItt Museum in Pittsburgh, PA is the location that was once a large stronghold of the English in North America. Today, a large fountain marks this auspicious moment and place in history. However, the memories live on inside the museum. You will learn about the French and Indian War in detail and even more about Fort Duquesne (now known as Fort Pitt).  

There is an authentic looking replica of a bastion from the 18th century which will have you imagining what life might have been like for a soldier and even a citizen back then. With the exhibits you will see a historical lesson unfold about the struggle of control for North America between France and Britain.  

This location of Fort Pitt is a key part of history during that time because three different rivers converged at this area. And since traveling by river was so important at the time, you can guess at the struggles that must have occurred at this historic site. The Fort Pitt Museum has undergone some changes within the past few years and its location at Pointe State Park is also undergoing some changes too.

You can still visit this fascinating museum and learn more about the area's important history however. Admission is very reasonable at $5 for adults, seniors are $4, children are $2 and those under 5 years of age are free. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may observe closure on some holidays, so you will want to call ahead for clarification.
