There are four in the family of Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, PA — the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Carnegie Science Center and the Andy Warhol Museum. You can get two museums for the price of one when it comes to the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Admission for adults is $10 which will get you into both venues. Seniors are $7 each and children and students are $6 each.
The Carnegie Science Center is a separate entity and charges a separate admission. They also have some extra offerings like IMAX movies and laser light shows which also cost extra. As far as the Andy Warhol Museum is concerned, while it is part of the family of Carnegie Museums, it is still somewhat of a separate entity. If you are a fan of the artist's works, then it will be a definite must-see as it is very comprehensive and chronicles his life and achievements in art.
Obviously the best bet if you are just a visitor to the area and want to pack several museum visits in, you will want to take advantage of the two for one admission to the art museum as well as the natural history museum. They both hold the broadest appeal, especially the natural history one with its collection of dinosaurs and other similar exhibits that will keep the kids fascinated.
The art museum features a broad range of works from various styles and time periods. It is truly an eclectic mix of exhibits with the architecture and the sculpture one being particularly interesting. There are even exhibits geared specifically towards kids which will capture their attention for a while.
All in all the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hold a broad appeal to every generation of visitors. The parking is extra but there are some great places to dine to make up for it.
