Pioneer Arizona Living History in Phoenix, Arizona is a one of a kind find in this region. It is located on West Pioneer Road and is open year round, with limited winter hours of operation. Call prior to visiting to confirm hours open.
The location itself is very unique in that it is a turn of the century town, well preserved, very real and just like it is brought out of the movies. The living history town is one that strives to educate those that visit about the history of the area. Instead of focusing on what is considered old west history, it portrays what reality really was. This interesting location is right for everyone in the family or those looking to really experience the past for themselves.
Visitors can visit the sheriff's office and jail, to see what types of life a prison or a sheriff could live. There is also a dress shop which features authentic, era pieces to see. One of the favorites by many visitors is the school house that is located here. This is an original school house that is set up and run the way that it truly used to be.
Visitors may want to make arrangements for a Victorian wedding in the quaint chapel that is located at Pioneer Arizona Living History (though prior arrangements are a must before arrival.) Visitors can also enjoy authentic era foods including breakfast and lunch here. To do so, pull up a stool to the antique cherry wood bar that is truly a restored piece of work. Children can play in the Critter Corral where there are miniature Brahma bulls as well as other animals to see and touch.
Self guided and guided tours are available.
