Funded by the philanthropist and industralist during the early 1900s, the Carnegie Center is one of the largest libraries in the Phoenix, Arizona area.The Center offers workshops, meeting space, educational programs, a womens hall of fame, and an endless amount of literature and nonfiction. Originally billed as the Carnegie Library, the building's focus shifted in 1953 to a recreation hall and center for the homless. It remained this way until being added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1974 and later leased to the city Phoenix in 1985.
