Every city or state has some historical sites or great tourist attractions. The National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, located at 321 Chestnut Street, is both a historical site and tourist attraction. The museum has started as a way to pay homage to our country, celebrate and give thanks for the freedom our country has earned through the years.
Also known as America's Home for Heroes, the National Liberty Museum pays honor to 1000 individuals, both men and women, who have gone out of their way, beyond their every day lives to make a contribution to make our world better. This may be important people such as world leaders, servicemen or the many police and firefighters that gave up their lives on 9/11.
With the world constantly trying to avoid war, the museum is a way to show the world that there are peaceful ways to resolve conflicts. You will see this displayed with many of the exhibits that are hands-on ways of making it look fun, easy and practical, which is how the world's problems should be solved.
The museum has a gallery called "Coming to America", which shows many exhibits about what it's like and what it takes to live in a free country. This is in regards to all the immigrants that come to America from other countries hoping to get freedom, work and other opportunities that are otherwise not available in their own country. These messages about our liberty are displayed in the more than 100 famous pieces of fine made of glass, with the message being that our liberty is as fragile as glass and should be treated as such.
Some of the exhibits are the 'Flame of Liberty' by world-famous artist Dale Chihuly, which is crimson glass sculpture 20 feet tall designed to be a tribute to the people that have helped us obtain liberty. 'Conflict Resolution Pyramid' by Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova is a six-foot sculpture to show the three sides of things of fights: my side, your side and the compromise.
Anyone wishing to see these beautiful displays and more can visit the museum every day except Monday. They also offer tours to interested parties.
