For anyone with a taste for the odd, the Mummers Museum in Philadelphia is must see.
What is a Mummer, you might ask? A hundred or so years ago, it was a drunken teamster marching with his friends down a randomly chosen street. Now, a Mummer is a drunken artisan whose craft has earned them a spot in the so-called Mummer's Hall of Fame.
This parade is the oldest folk festival in Americal shouldn't it have its own museum?
Of course, this museum must be as odd as the men and women who's legacy it was built upon. The costumes of past Mummers line the walls here, and since ladies were banned from the festivities until the 1980's, as do photographs of women dressed as men dressed as women.
So if you're into walking pirate fleets or trash can aliens, or just want to see one of the last unique roadside attractions, come visit the Mummers Museum in Philly.
