Puppet Films at Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, PA

One of the most unique things about the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is that it routinely presents puppet shows by master puppeteers from around the world. These are not your average puppet shows for kids - instead, these shows feature finely hand-crafted puppets performing material that deals with war, history, racism, and gender issues. Each puppet show usually only runs for a week or so, so please buy tickets early to guarantee your attendance. Though admission to the ICA is free, the puppet shows do charge various admission prices.

The ICA is part of the University of Pennsylvania, and is dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art from well-known and up-and-coming visual artists. The museum hosts dozens of temporary exhibitions each year, and is also well-known for its insightful educational programs. The museum also serves as a research resource for scholars, as well as graduate art and art history students. Admission to the ICA is free, though visitors are encouraged to become members by giving an annual donation. The museum is open Wednesdays-Fridays from 12-8PM and Saturdays and Sundays 11AM-5PM. The ICA is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Guided tours are available for a fee and with prior signup.
