A Great Company in a Great City Insurance Company of North America at Awater Kent Museum in Philadelphia, PA

From May 2006 through March 2007, the historical Atwater Kent Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania introduced a new collection of Philadelphia artifacts and documents that they had received from the Insurance Company of North America. Included in the collection of over 275 items were pre-Civil war lithographs of some of the city's most famous buildings, objects from the 19th century maritime trade, and models of 19th century firefighting equipment. Many of the items presented at this exhibit are now in the museum's permanent collection.

The Atwater Kent Museum is the official city history museum of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the best place to get a broad and interesting overview of the city and its background. Housed in the 1826 Museum Building, the museum has introduced visitors to the storied history of the City of Brotherly Love for over 70 years. Featured exhibits in the museum include the world's largest map of Philadelphia, gifts given to William Penn by the Lenni Lenape Indians in 1682, and documents from America's founding in 1776. The museum also offers scholars, students and researchers a flexible-use Collections Study Center where archived historical documents and city records can be accessed.
