Many cities either lack the resources or the financial ability to fund and create a city park. City parks are a great way to beautify any city while attracting businesses and residents. In Southern California the Palm Desert Civic Center is the perfect example of a city park being used to beautify and smarten a city.

Palm Desert, California is minutes away from Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley. With the backdrop of perfect climate, swaying palms, and crystal skies; the city of Palm Desert has a rich music and art scene. The Civic Center Park is the jewel of the Palm Desert recreation division. With beautifully laid lawns, date orchids, and palm trees this park is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The Civic Center Park features several amenities; the amount of which is frankly staggering when compared to other cities and their parks. With four baseball fields complete with restrooms and even concession stands, six tennis courts, and three basketball courts; the park is a favorite to sport lovers along with those occasional recreational players. There are five picnic pavilions perfect for eating lunch and enjoying a birthday party or other event. There is even an Amphitheater which hosts various shows and events.  

Strolling along the wide avenues of the Civic Center Park is a treat within itself. The moderate temperature of the region provides a great excuse to get outdoors, along with the wonderful sculptures that can be found all throughout the Civic Center Park. The artwork and sculptures here were created by talented local artists with a variety of subjects and subject matter. One of these pieces is the Holocaust Memorial which depicts lost children and parents with replicas of light posts that can be found in Auschwitz.

Along with a dog park, a playground, artwork, and numerous sport complexes, the Palm Desert Civic Center Park is an amazing place that is sure to inspire and delight both locals and visitors of the region. Everything within the seventy-two acre park is carefully cared for and is exceptionally beautiful. The Civic Center Park is defiantly worth an afternoon or two.
