The Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs is located at the foot of the San Jacinto mountains. The private club was established in the early 1960 and has an 18-hole championship golf course. The course is built on 550 acres of land that was originally owned by the Aqua Caliente Indian tribe. Detailed negotiations to purchase the land led to the the largest Indian land lease in America. Residences were later built by architect Harry Kelso near the second fairway — some of which were owned by Walt Disney.
The Club is in a virtually wind-free location at the entrance of Indian Canyons. It was created by renowned golf course designer Billy Bell. The course has around 7,000 yards of fine fairways and is a par-72 course. It provides a challenge for beginners and experienced golfers.
The Club has a fine clubhouse designed by well-known architect Don Wexler. It has fabulous views of the mountains in the distance, and Walt Disney's fountain. There is a bar and outdoor terrace to enjoy a drink or a light meal after your game. The Club has a program of events during the year including a Thanksgiving dinner and popular Easter brunch.
The Club has experienced golf professionals who hold regular golf lessons for all abilities, and clinics featuring different aspects of the game. The Club hosts a number of tournaments during the year including the Men's and Women's Invitational, Men's and Women's Guest Days, and the Guys and Dolls Tournament. The pro shop stocks a selection of golf equipment and accessories plus branded clothing for men and women.
