Hot Pepper can be found in two locations in downtown Ottawa. The restaurant offers sophisticated and beautifully presented Thai dishes and an extensive wine list. Hot Peppers has a dining room downstairs, with a bar and wireless lounge on the second floor to relax and enjoy a drink. It retains the original wood paneling and has a fine fireplace with Japanese tiles.
There is an extensive selection of menu items featuring well-known as well as innovative dishes. The lunch menu includes vegetable spring rolls, red curry with vegetables and coconut milk and glass noodle soup. Dinner appetizers features small but tasty portions of crab spring rolls, satay, squid with a garlic and pepper sauce, and fried crab cakes. Soups include hot and sour chicken with lemongrass or coconut milk, and there are a variety of stir fry dishes featuring chicken, pork, beef and Thai herbs. Dinner entrees include red curry with chicken, pork or seafood, deep-fried salmon in a sweet and spicy pepper sauce, and a choice of noodle dishes. There are also tofu dishes for non-meat eaters.
The restaurant has a great Wine Cellar and offers pairings to complement the exotic flavors and to suit different budgets - imported beers include the Chinese Tsing Tao beer. Somerset is open for dinner Monday to Sunday 5.00pm — 10.00pm and Queen is open Monday to Saturday 5.00pm — 10.00pm. The restaurant hosts 'Who's Hot at Hot Peppers' competition where members of the local community cook up their favorite Thai dishes. The restaurant caters for special occasions and the upstairs lounge can be hired for large parties.
