Museum of Arts & Sciences is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and is a great place to spend an entire day with the family. The Museum of Arts & Sciences is situated on a natural consisting of 90 acres. With over 30,000 items in the permanent collection section, it's the main museum for history, primary art and science in central Florida. The collections include Cuban, American, Chinese, English, Continental and Pre-Columbian art, fossils, decorative art and paper, crystals, minerals and gems and a large 13-foot high Giant Ground Sloth. The total of all their collections includes so many old items too numerous to mention.
Many of their exhibitions change frequently. Their current main exhibition is a Classical World exhibition of over 200 rare Roman and Greek antiquities from the Tampa Museum of Art collection. This collection depicts the material culture of the Mediterranean section from the Neolithic era to the Roman Imperial period. You'll find many exhibits of art works, painted pottery, terra cotta, bronze and metal ornaments and much more. The Museum of Arts & Sciences can also be rented for group functions or events.
The Museum of Arts & Sciences sponsors many educational programs for students from kindergarten through high school. Each summer their Summer Learning Institute puts on programs focusing on arts, science and history, including a theatrical production. In the fall of 2008, they will be opening their addition to the children's current wing. This addition will be an addition 6,200 square feet of exhibition space. The Children's Museum will be focused on hands-on exhibits for the children.
