Located at Watson Island, the Miami Children's Museum was established in 1983 with the unique vision of allowing young minds a one-of-a-kind educational experience, which is as entertaining as it is insightful, while also encouraging them to develop and enhance their creativity and imagination.
Spread over 56,500 square feet of galleries, classrooms, a resource center and even an in-house auditorium, the Museum embraces the philosophy of learning as fun with their eclectic assortment of interactive exhibits and educational programs. Here, visitors can clamber into the two-tiered Castle of Dreams, which introduces them to sands from distant lands, learn about the importance of developing healthy habits at the Health and Wellness Center and even learn about everyday heroes in uniform at the aptly named Safety Zone. Your young ones can also get their first taste of fame at the Television Studio, or even discover the elaborate behind-the-scenes action by assuming the role of a camera operator or a weather reporter.
The Miami Children's Museum also lays special emphasis on the importance of respecting and appreciating those around you and demonstrates this with the use of teddy bears of all shapes and sizes. You can even have your little ones make their first foray into the world of music with the Music Together Program, which brings out their inherent musical talent with delightful songs, chants and rhythmic instruments. The Museum also conducts a daylong Creative Island Camp where participants can view and explore the world of art through the works of some of the most noteworthy artists of the day.
The Miami Children's Museum also conducts group tours by prior appointment, guided by professional museum educators. You can even host your child's birthday at the Museum, and even handpick a theme of your very own to make for a fun-filled memorable experience.
The Miami Children's Museum welcomes visitors from 10 am to 6 pm all through the week. Admission is charged at about $12 per person with special discounts for members and infants.
