Boggy Creek Airboat Rides
Boggy Creek Airboat Rides
Sightings include bald eagles, blue herons, deer, a wide variety of water foul, and the star attraction — the American alligator.

With the great year-round weather in Orlando, it makes sense that there is plenty to do out of doors. So, head out and enjoy the day in sunny Orlando.

WILDLIFE ATTRACTIONS IN ORLANDO

  • Boggy Creek Airboats. This is the ultimate airboat experience and it's only minutes away from other major Orlando attractions in Kissimmee. Take a cruise on top of the water at speeds up to 45 mph as you watch for wildlife across Lake "Toho". Look for eagles, osprey and snakes as well as an alligator or two. If you dare, reserve a space on one of their night-time trips that features a spotlight search for red-eyed gators.
  • SeaWorld. Shows, attractions and exhibits make this marine life park a hit with everyone. Soak up the sun and check out the animal performances--and if the Orlando heat is getting to you, Shamu will cool you off with a splash.
  • Gatorland. Billed as the Alligator Capital of the World, this place lets you get close-up, but not too personal, with the local reptile species. Some of the highlights include Gator wrestling, exhibits featuring Florida's snakes and indigenous animals, a mini-water park and kids' petting zoo. Gatorland is located just outside Orlando.
  • Kissimmee Sports Arena Rodeo. This Friday night show goes on rain or shine. Offering calf roping, bronco busting, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding, it's all here in a wildest western show in central Florida.

GOLF IN ORLANDO

With some of the best golf facilities in the nation, Orlando has many courses to choose from, depending on what you are looking for. With so many choices in courses you will think you have entered the golf Mecca, so grab your clubs and head out onto the greens.

  • Kissimmee Golf Club. This 18-hole par 72 course in located very near the Disney complex.
  • Poinciana Golf and Racquetball. This course is semi-private and is a challenge for golfers. Known for its water approach shots and doglegs, this 18-hole course is excellent.
  • Walk-N-Sticks. If you only have time for a short game, this is the place to play it. The course is a 9-hole executive course.
  • Celebration Golf Club - This is an awesome 18-hole championship course by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. & Robert Trent Jones, Jr., designers. There is also a driving range and a 3-hole junior course.
  • Disney offers five very different courses in its complex with championship courses that are now the home to the PGA Tour's Fuani Classic. The courses include Bonnet Creek, Eagle Pines, Lake Buena Vista, Osprey Ridge and the Palm. Each was designed by a different designer and has been recently redone. All are excellent courses.
  • Bay Hill Club. Ranked as one of the best public domain resort courses in the country, the club is open to guests of the resort. Arnold Palmer had a hand in designing this one and chose it as the home for his popular Golf Academy.

ATTRACTIONS FOR THRILLSEEKERS IN ORLANDO

  • Richard Petty Driving Experience. Train to drive a racecar or just ride in one. Three levels of driver training programs are available and one ride program is offered. Speedway admission is free with programs priced separately.
  • Skycoaster of Kissimmee. Skycoaster offers a safe alternative to bungee jumping while still giving you the full adrenaline rush. You'll be strapped into a sleeping bag type restraint and lifted 300 feet in the air between two steel poles. From here you can view many of Orlando and Kissimmee's attractions. It's an incredible sight, but don't get used to it--because you are then launched downward at incredible speeds, then swung upwards and back and forth between the poles as if you're flying. This attraction is located near the major attractions in Kissimmee.

Head on outside and enjoy the bright Florida sunshine.

Gatorland
Our condolences on the fire. I could have cried, remembering what Gatorland has meant to my kids, now 43 and 39 when we lived in Orlando. The memories, pics taken on the premises and sitting on the Gatorland teeth. Old Albert, the Galapagos tortoise who liked to have his chin scratched. And Bonecrusher....when the news came over the TV tht he had died, my little girl was hysterical and when she said her prayers that night, after her list of petitions added: 'and please bless Bonecrusher'. Mr. Godwin, Sr. used to talk to us a lot and told us of Susie the Alligator who was depressed---how can you tell?---was16 years old and never been kissed, as it were. He put her in with Bonecrusher hoping to alleviate her frustration. She was there two weeks before Bonecrusher even noticed her! I told Mr. Godwin it was his own fault---she was Gator, he was Croc and he probably did not believe in mixed marriages---AND he was over 100 years old, before the days of Viagra. Again, good luck on your renovations.

Gatorland
Trainer for a Day
If you are traveling to Central Florida - make sure you spend a day at Gatorland. My twelve year old and myself took part in the Trainer for a Day program - it was a birthday gift for him. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY !!!! We got up close and personal (holding, feeding, wrestling) the gators and a ton more of hands on with other creatures. This was an experience of a lifetime. Our guide was great and took the time to answer all of my families questions. Disney is always great - but knock a day off the park hopper and make arrangements to do the Trainer for a Day at Gatorland. The staff is Gatorland is very friendly and couldn't do enough for us.

SeaWorld - Orlando, FL
Sea World is Fantastic
We have been to Sea World - Orlando several times over the years. We've always had a great time. Our kids always enjoyed the shows and the rides. We have taken other children from church and our neighbors over the years and just had a superb time. When we come to Florida we just have to make a day at Sea World.
