Walt Disney World Resort offers its visitors a wealth of services to ensure that vacations are filled with the magic of Disney (and not hassles!), so it's a good idea to become familiar with the following services before your Disney World travels.
Disney Transportation
For complete details, please see our Walt Disney World Guide to Getting Around
- Disney shuttles run every 20 minutes (however, most of the time the wait is much shorter) between Disney theme parks, water parks, and resorts. Downtown Disney shuttles run to and from all of the resorts, but are not available directly to and from the theme parks.
- The Monorail services Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, and resorts at the Magic Kingdom.
- Water ferries run between select resorts, Downtown Disney, Disney-MGM Studios, and the Magic Kingdom.
- Detailed information - including times of operation for a specific day - are available at both resort front desks and Guest Services at each theme park.
- Keep in mind that certain times of day are very busy, so plan accordingly. Shuttles leaving resorts to the theme parks are typically busiest an hour before to an hour after the theme park's opening. Shuttles leaving Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney are usually busiest between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Disney's FASTPASS
- Disney's FASTPASS system is designed to help you spend more time exploring the theme parks and less time waiting in line for popular rides and attractions.
- Here's how it works:
- Walk up the clearly-marked FASTPASS machines at eligible rides and attractions
- Insert your Walt Disney World ticket into the machine
- Take both your Disney World ticket and your FASTPASS ticket from the machine
- Leave to explore the area until the time indicated on your FASTPASS ticket - you will have a one hour window in which to return
- Return between the times listed on your ticket and enter through the FASTPASS entrance
- Enjoy little or no wait as you go straight to the front of the line
- Guests can have one FASTPASS pending at a time - the FASTPASS ticket will indicate when another pass can be retrieved
- Each park posts which rides and attractions will have FASTPASS available at the Information Board near the park entrance
- Be sure to hang on to your FASTPASS as it will be collected when you enter the FASTPASS line
Disney's PhotoPass
- Disney's PhotoPass is an exceptionally easy way to get professional quality photos to commemorate your vacation without have to keep up with a camera.
- Professional photographers are stationed throughout the theme parks, usually at entrances, character greeting areas, and other "picturesque" locations.
- The first photographer to take your picture will give you a PhotoPass card. Give that card to each photographer you encounter to scan.
- At the end of the day as you're leaving the park, you can view and purchase any photos that were taken in that park.
- By the following day, your photos will appear on the Disney Photo Pass website, where you can view and share them (for free!) with your friends and family for up to 30 days. You can also order prints and packages online.
- The service costs nothing up front, so it's a good idea to go ahead and have the pictures taken now - then decide later from the comfort of your own home whether or not you want to pay for the photos.
