When Wilbur Foshay had the Foshay Tower built in 1929, he probably never imagined that one day other skyscrapers would look down at it. Standing 447 feet tall, the Foshay Tower is currently Minnesota's 18th tallest building. However, this building continues to command an extraordinary presence in Minneapolis.
There are several interesting features of the Foshay Tower. Probably the most attention-getting feature is its style. Designed by Leon Eugene Arnal, the tower embodies the art deco style of the 1920s. The style was so unique that it was patented only a few years after opening its doors.
The 31st floor of the Foshay Tower is a museum consisting of significant artifacts associated with the tower, including the sheet music that musician John Phillip Sousa played during the opening of the tower. The museum also has a selection of videos and photographs. Observing the Minneapolis skyline is a treat from the observation deck of the Foshay Tower, also located on the 31st floor. The observation deck is the only spot of its kind in Minneapolis.
The Foshay Tower includes more than 200 suites with ample space and the same artistic style designed so many years ago. The tower has such an inviting appeal that it is an excellent choice for corporate meetings or similar group sessions. There are several rooms with space more than adequate for large gatherings. You can also enjoy an upper-scale dining experience or spend some relaxation time in the spa.
The public has access to the Foshay Tower during the months between April and October. Admission to the tower is very inexpensive. Adults pay $4 while children and seniors pay $2.
