The Dufferin Islands is 10 splendid acres of magnificent natural beauty located just above the falls.
In recent years there have been many efforts to naturalize the area by adding fresh water fish, bird feeding stations and bird boxes, as well as planting vegetation appropriate for the environment. There are several outdoor activities that are available to do in the area, including picnicking and numerous hiking trails. There is also a "Catch and Release" fishing program in the area, that is very popular with the public. Please be advised that for this program, anyone over the age of 18 will need a permit. The Dufferin Islands is also a popular place around the holidays, as they place several lighted displays around the island for the "Winter Festival of Lights."
