Port Colborne near Niagara Falls, Ontario is an ideal stop when visiting the falls. It is located on Lake Erie at the very southern position of Welland Canal. The port was named after Sir John Colborne who was a war hero from Britain who later became the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. The city was developed due to the need for workers at the canal and today it has the world's longest canal locks. The canal locks stretch some 1380 feet.
