At just seven acres, Montebello Park in St Catharines is a beautiful and historic site for any visitor to Ontario.
Translating to 'beautiful mountain', this park was aptly named. It was designed by Frederick Olmstead, the father of landscape architecture and designer of New York's Central Park.
Along with an ornamental fountain, there is the original commemorative rose garden- the largest in the city.
The bandstand and pavilion stand as historical landmarks, each playing host to a number of great annual events and gatherings. The best time for first-time visitors would be Tuesdays and Sundays during the summer, as that's when concerts take place here.
The Niagara Folk Arts Festival is one of the oldest cultural festivals in the area as it continues on through four decades of showcasing the arts of Niagara Falls' heritage.
