Appreciate hiking trails all across the nation and within
Niagara Falls State Park on National Trails Day. Just days after National Trails Day is the anniversary of the natural destruction of the Schoellkopf Power Station, that happened so long ago in this state park. Visitors can spend the day learning about this event through displays, power point presentations, and other hands-on exhibits. In all this excitement, don't forget to be celebrating National Trails Day at the same time. There will be scheduled hikes along the former route of the hydraulic canal, and into the gorge to see the ruins of that power station. During this celebration, visitors can join in remembering an important part of this park that no longer stands, as well as rejoice in the hiking trails that still exist.
