A Night Adventure at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, NY

Do you enjoy stargazing and night hiking?  On various evenings when there is a full moon in view, Fort Niagara State Park in Niagara Falls, New York holds their "A Night Adventure" events. During these events, visitors hike through the wooded park with a naturalist guide. The guide explains the differences between night and day wildlife patterns in the park, and also educates attendees about the phases of the moon and the constellations present in the sky. These night events are a great opportunity to see a completely different side of this park. Events are usually held on fall evenings from 7-9 PM, on the nights where a full moon is out.

During the day, Fort Niagara State Park is a destination for boating enthusiasts, as its two boat launches provide access to Lake Ontario and the Lower Niagara River. Visitors can also hike on the many woodland trails, swim in the public pool, picnic, play tennis and soccer, and hunt water fowl during hunting season. The park is also a great destination for winter sports when it snows - visitors often come to the park to snowshoe, sled, and do some cross-country skiing. Admission to the park and events are free.
