With all the attractions, shows, and entertainment in the city, Niagara Falls also has plenty of opportunities to experience some of the history and culture in the area. Some of the same attractions one might go to offer wonderful information about the development of the area and the world as well.

Here are some great places to enjoy the city and take in some culture, probably without even noticing that you are learning something.

Niagara Falls Attractions...

  • Chateau des Charmes Winery - Niagara's wineries offer beautiful countryside scenery and an impressive variety of wines, icewines, and more.  Take in a tour and a tasting to learn more about the Niagara area, its vineyards, and wine production.
  • Welland City Murals - Learn the history of the town as you walk through the world's largest open-air gallery in the world, consisting of numerous murals across the town, dedicated to telling its story.
  • Welland Canal, Lock 3 Viewing Complex - Walk along the viewing complex and watch as the 30,000 ton freighters are lifted in Lock 3.  You'll discover the history of the Welland Canal and its lock system, allowing ships to safely detour the Niagara Falls.  Next door are the St. Catherines Museum and the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Niagara Falls Shows...

  • Shaw Festival - This 328-seat venue, originally a vaudeville production house built during World War I to entertain the troops, offers a great deal of history between its walls in addition to the wonderful shows.
  • Oh Canada Eh?! - If you couldn't tell by the title, Canadians are the theme of this production.  Everything is Canadian, including the music, the characters, and the performers, so enjoy the best of Canadian entertainment.

Niagara Falls Museums...

  • Guinness World Records Museum - This museum will broaden your scope of the world and entertain in the meantime. Located in the Clifton Hill Entertainment District, this museum is a fun way to discover seemingly impossible feats and those who triumph over them.
  • Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum - It's your choice to believe or not, and see it with your own eyes as well. Located in the Clifton Hill District, this museum brings the bizarre and even surreal up close and personal. 500 exhibits will entertain and inspire.
  • Niagara Falls Art Gallery - Take a walk through some of the most incredible original art in the area as well as obtaining some insight on Niagara's societal development. One of many art galleries in the city, this venue holds the collection of William Kurelek as well as historic Niagara Falls artwork from as early as the 1700s.
