Niagara Falls Area Parks
- Niagara Falls State Park. Of course any visitor to Niagara Falls will pay a visit to Niagara Falls State Park. Including such attractions as the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, Aquarium of Niagara, Niagara Scenic Trolley, maid of the mist, Festival Theatre, Cave of the Winds and an Observation Tower, there is plenty to do here to occupy all ages. Designed in 1885 by Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of New York's Central Park, this park is America's oldest state park.
- King's Bridge Park. King's Bridge Park is a delightful park with a wading pool, playground and picnic area. Queenston Heights, known as the birthplace of Canada, is a historical and beautiful garden, and features Brock's Monument and the Laura Secord Monument as well as a recreation facility with a wading pool, tennis courts and playground. This park also has a snack bar and bandshell.
Niagara Falls Area Gardens
- Centennial Lilac Garden. The Centennial Lilac Garden features over 1,200 plants, and is located between the Floral Clock and the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge.
- Niagara Parks Royal Botanical Gardens. The Niagara Parks Royal Botanical Gardens feature 100 beautifully-landscaped acres with brick paths, benches and ponds, as well as plenty of plants from around the world.
- Queen Victoria Park. Queen Victoria Park, next to Niagara Falls, features a huge rose garden, a rock garden and changing flower beds, plus nighttime illumination.
Nature Areas in Niagara Falls
- Dufferin Islands Nature Area. For those who love to learn about local wildlife and habitats, a visit to Dufferin Islands Nature Area is a must. With scenic views, wildlife viewing, picnic sites and a catch-and-release fishing lake, Dufferin Islands provides an educational and beautiful setting for a day outdoors.
- Niagara Glen. Niagara Glen, another nature preserve, has hiking trails and guided walking tours.
- Botanical Gardens. For an indoor nature experience, visit the Butterfly Conservatory located at the Botanical Gardens. With 2,000 free-flying butterflies in the largest indoor atrium in North America, you will feel as though you've been transported to a lush, tropical rainforest. There are also interactive displays, a butterfly emergence viewing area, and a gift shop and caf'.
