Niagara Butterfly Conservatory - Niagara Falls, ON
Butterfly Conservatory
Another amazing nature display can be seen at the Butterfly Conservatory.
You'll feel like you've stepped into a tropical rain forest during your visit to Niagara Falls when you step into the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory. The park's 600-foot pathway brings you up close and personal to more than 2,000 exotic butterflies of more than 50 different species in their natural habitat -- not in cages but flying all around you. An outdoor butterfly garden hosts domestic species during the summer months, attracting them with native Ontario plants like Butterfly Bush, Purple Coneflower and Joe Pye Weed. Explore these amazing creatures and the plants and flowers they live amongst. Almost as astounding as the butterflies themselves is the environment that has been created for them. Peaceful, flowing water and exotic greenery make for a magical setting. In the Emergence area, visitors can watch the butterflies emerge from their chrysalides. Or watch how these graceful creatures feed and perform other tasks. The Butterfly Conservatory is located south of the Floral Clock in the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, about 5.6 miles north of Niagara Falls. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the year except December 25. |
