Goat Island

Goat Island, the oldest state park in the United States, was formed with sediment left from a lake called Lake Tonawanda that vanished. This formation split the river in two and created channels. On the eastern side of the island, the American Falls formed and you will see the Horseshoe Falls on the western side. You can also see a third fall at the northwest point of Goat Island that has been called many names over the years and is now known as Bridal Veil Falls. You can stroll all over the island or take the shuttle. While you are there take an adventure through the Cave Of The Winds which takes you to the base of the American Falls; raincoats are provided. Goat Island is open year-round.
